HARRISBURG (May 5, 2021) – Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor today said National Nurses Week, which runs May 6 through May 12, is a perfect time for Pennsylvanians to express their thanks to nursing professionals.
“Thank you to all of the brave nurses who have made it even more clear during the pandemic just how important they, and other front-line healthcare workers, have been to keeping Pennsylvanians safe,” DeFoor said. “We owe nurses an enormous debt of gratitude for all that they continue to do.”
Approximately 180,000 nurses work in Pennsylvania. Nurses have not only put their own safety at risk by providing direct care to hospitalized patients, but are also very active in vaccination campaigns and public education efforts.
“Our appreciation for nurses shouldn’t start or end on a particular date,” DeFoor added. “But National Nurses Week is good time for everyone to offer a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to nurses across Pennsylvania.”
