About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted on the Union City Fireman’s Relief Association in Erie County, Pennsylvania, covering January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. Governed by state law and the VFRA Act, the audit aimed to ensure compliance regarding the receipt and expenditure of state aid. The association’s finances, consisting of total cash and investments amounting to $51,504 and expenditures totaling $43,137, were examined. The funds received from Union City Borough and Union Township are subject to state regulations, and the relief association must ensure the proper and prudent management of these resources for the benefit of volunteer firefighters. The audit concluded that the relief association satisfactorily complied with relevant state laws, contracts, bylaws, and procedures. The audit’s findings were shared with the relief association’s management and other stakeholders, including township officials and the Governor of Pennsylvania.
