About This Audit
The compliance audit of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Firefighter’s Relief Association, covering January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, concluded that the relief association generally adhered to applicable state laws, contracts, bylaws, and administrative procedures concerning the receipt of state aid and fund expenditures. However, the audit identified two significant issues: an unauthorized expenditure of $3,375 on modifications to non-relief association-owned apparatus, and failure to maintain a complete and accurate equipment roster. The audit indicates that these issues have been addressed with the management’s cooperation and a reimbursal of the unauthorized expenditure by the affiliated fire company. Officers are urged to familiarize themselves with the VFRA Act guidelines to avoid similar issues in the future. The audit provides a reasonable basis for its conclusions and was not conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards.
