About This Audit

The compliance audit of the Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company #1 Fireman’s Relief Association, conducted for the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, determined that the association complied with pertinent state laws, contracts, bylaws, and administrative procedures concerning the receipt of state aid and the expenditure of funds. The audit, performed according to the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act and other regulatory frameworks, revealed that the relief association manages its financial activities appropriately, maintaining total cash of $391,761 and expenditures of $246,157 for the period in question. However, an observation noted that the association’s cash balance exceeded FDIC coverage limits, indicating a need for enhanced monitoring to mitigate financial risk. The audit findings, discussed with the association’s management, acknowledge the association’s cooperation throughout the audit process. The report and its observations aim to guide the association in maintaining compliance and financial prudence.
