Firemen’s Relief Association of Alpha Fire Company No. 1, Inc. – Adams County – Audit Period January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023

An audit was conducted on the Firemen’s Relief Association of Alpha Fire Company No. 1, Inc. in Adams County, Pennsylvania, for the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The audit aimed to check compliance with state laws and guidelines relating to the receipt and expenditure of state aid. Although the audit concluded that the relief association complied in significant respects, it identified two key issues: an unauthorized expenditure of $540 on fire police t-shirts, and inadequate adherence to bylaws. The relief association was recommended to reimburse the unauthorized expenditure and improve awareness of appropriate expenditure under the VFRA Act. Management agreed with the findings, and appropriate steps for remediation were discussed.
