About This Audit

A compliance audit was conducted on the Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association, Inc. in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, for the period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. The audit was aimed at assessing whether the relief association addressed findings from a prior audit and complied with relevant laws and procedures regarding state aid receipt and fund expenditures. The audit found that the association had largely complied with applicable regulations and took corrective actions as recommended earlier. However, it noted ongoing noncompliance related to unauthorized expenditures totaling $5,540 on dress uniforms, which were not approved under the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act. This issue was discussed with the association’s management, emphasizing the need for corrective action. The report notes the association’s responsibility to maintain effective controls and adhere to state laws governing financial administration. The audit findings underscore the importance of ensuring compliance to uphold financial accountability.
