About This Audit

A compliance audit of the Bedford Borough Police Pension Plan for Bedford County, Pennsylvania, was conducted to ensure adherence to applicable state laws, regulations, and policies. The audit, executed under the Municipal Pension Plan Funding Standard and Recovery Act (Act 205 of 1984), aimed to determine the correct administration of the pension plan, focusing on proper state aid deposits, employer and employee contributions, and insurance contracts compliance from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The audit found that the pension plan complied in all significant respects with state laws and other legal requirements. Bedford Borough is responsible for maintaining effective internal controls to ensure continued compliance. The report also includes supplementary unaudited information about the plan’s funding status and historical contributions. The auditor general, Timothy L. DeFoor, expressed appreciation for the cooperation of borough officials during the audit.
