About This Audit

A compliance audit was conducted on the Coatesville Firemen’s Relief Association in Chester County, Pennsylvania, covering January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. The audit aimed to assess whether the association had addressed previous findings and complied with applicable state laws, contracts, and procedures regarding state aid and fund expenditure. While the association corrected most prior findings, it failed to maintain a complete and accurate equipment roster. Additional findings included the lack of defined discretionary benefits and an incomplete membership roster. Despite these issues, the association largely complied with state laws, contracts, and procedures. The Auditor General’s office reviewed the association’s financial records, highlighting the importance of maintaining accurate records and adhering to internal and state-mandated controls. The audit emphasized the need for corrective actions on unresolved issues but acknowledged cooperation from association officials.
