About This Audit
The compliance audit for the Swatara Township Non-Uniformed Cash Balance Pension Plan covered the period from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2023. Conducted under Act 205, the audit’s objective was to assess if the pension plan adhered to state laws, regulations, contracts, procedures, and policies. The audit revealed a key finding: the township exceeded required contributions, putting extra funds into certain accounts. The excess contributions, which resulted in an unallocated reserve fund of $15,289, remained unresolved. Recommendations were made for the township to correct these excess contributions by transferring the extra funds and interest income back to the general fund. Township officials agreed with the finding, and compliance will be reassessed in the next audit. Overall, except for the noted excess contributions, the plan complied with regulatory requirements.
