About This Audit
A compliance audit of the Branch Township Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Association for January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, was conducted. The audit’s objectives were to verify corrective actions suggested in a previous audit and ensure compliance with state laws and procedures regarding the use of state aid. While the association generally complied with the requirements, the audit noted the inability to provide canceled checks, which hindered the verification of certain procedures. Additionally, the audit identified a failure to maintain a valid Pennsylvania sales tax exemption number, a repeated issue from previous audits. This lapse may result in unnecessary sales tax payments, reducing funds available for fire service operations. The association intends to address this by reapplying for a tax exemption number. The report will aid in future verifications and stakeholder awareness.
