About This Audit

The Auditor General conducted a Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) of the Dormont Volunteer Firefighters Relief Association for the period January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. The LPE aimed to verify whether the association’s funds were expended for authorized purposes and if state aid funds were received and deposited in compliance with the VFRA Act and Act 205 of 1984. The engagement included reviewing financial records, interviewing officials, and verifying state aid deposits. Total expenditures amounted to $168,803, with $58,792 reviewed in detail to confirm compliance with state laws, contracts, bylaws, and procedures. The review found no unauthorized expenditures or improper deposits. The report emphasized the need for continuing documentation and outlined the potential for future compliance audits. The thorough cooperation of the relief association’s officers contributed to the engagement’s success.
