About This Audit
The compliance audit of the Fireman’s Relief Association of Rose Fire Company No. 1, Inc. covered January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, guided by Article VIII, Section 10 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Constitution, Section 403 of The Fiscal Code, and the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act. The audit aimed to ensure corrective action on previous findings and compliance with state laws regarding state aid and expenditure of relief funds. The audit revealed the relief association addressed previous issues and largely complied with relevant regulations, though independent verification of cash and investment balances was unobtainable. The relief association had total expenditures of $134,196 during the period, with significant spending in insurance premiums, equipment, and fire services. A past issue involving fraudulent alteration of a check for $6,500 was reported and resolved. The association is advised to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, and the audit process received cooperation from the relief association management.
