A Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) was conducted on the Forest Lake Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Fund Association for the period January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. The objective was to assess whether funds were expended for authorized purposes and state aid was properly received and deposited, as per the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act. The engagement included reviewing financial transactions, verifying the deposit of state aid, and testing expenditures totaling $7,958. The relief association expended $7,960 in total during the period. No unauthorized fund expenditures or improper deposits were noted. The relief association, a charitable organization, receives funds through the Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Distribution Law, Act 205. Officers are responsible for maintaining effective internal controls and complying with relevant state laws. The report was shared with relevant officials and will remain a matter of public record. The Association serves to financially support volunteer firefighters within its jurisdiction.
