About This Audit
The Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) was conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General for the Franklin Park Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, under the VFRA Act and related legislations. The objective was to ensure that funds were spent correctly and state aid was properly deposited. Auditors reviewed transactions totaling $481,391 against state law, contracts, and procedures. The total expenditure was $507,314, comprising benefit services, fire services, administrative services, and investments. Issues were noted in obtaining independent confirmations of cash and investment balances, with ending balances for cash and investments reported as $209,782 and $433,020, respectively. No unauthorized fund expenditure or state aid failures were identified, but the report cautions about possible future compliance audits. Cooperation from relief association officials was acknowledged.
