About This Audit
The compliance audit of the Hughesville Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Association for January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, aimed to ensure corrective actions were taken regarding prior audit findings and assess compliance with state laws and administrative procedures. The audit, carried out by the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General, was based on state regulations governing relief associations and used sufficient procedures to ensure accurate findings. The association corrected previous issues, including properly registering investments and conducting annual equipment inventories, and adhered to relevant statutes concerning the receipt and use of state aid. Total expenditures amounted to $33,333, mainly for fire services, and the total cash as of December 31, 2023, was reported as $24,402. The relief association operates independently of its affiliated fire company. The audit findings demonstrate the association’s adherence to regulations, ensuring financial protection and compliance for its volunteer firefighters.
