About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted for the Irvona Vol. Fire Company Relief Association, covering January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The audit, authorized by Pennsylvania state laws, aimed to verify whether the association addressed previous audit findings and complied with state regulations for receiving state aid and fund expenditure. The audit confirmed that the relief association appropriately addressed prior findings and largely complied with applicable laws, with one noted exception. The primary finding indicated inadequate meeting minutes and outdated bylaws, which did not reflect the VFRA Act’s requirements. Meetings were infrequent, and minutes lacked signatures and comprehensive financial records. Though the relief association had taken corrective steps, these issues highlight the need for better record-keeping and updated bylaws, as emphasized by the audit’s recommendations and discussed with the association’s management. The association’s cooperation during the audit was appreciated.
