About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted on the Mount Union Borough Police Pension Plan, guided by the Municipal Pension Plan Funding Standard and Recovery Act (Act 205), to check if corrective actions from prior recommendations were implemented and to ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies. The audit, covering January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, reviewed state aid, employer and employee contributions, and the actuarial valuation report compliance. Despite generally complying with laws and guidelines, it was found that the municipality did not correct prior issues. Two key findings included incorrect data on Certification Form AG 385, leading to underpayment of state aid, and municipality contributions misdirected to an ineligible member’s account. It is recommended that these findings be immediately addressed to ensure compliance and proper administration of the pension plan. The report thanked borough officials for their cooperation during the audit process.
