A Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) was conducted for the Mt. Zion Community Fire Company Fireman’s Relief Association in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, covering January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2023. The LPE aimed to ensure funds were expended for authorized purposes according to the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act and that state aid funds were correctly received and deposited. The engagement involved reviewing financial records, interviewing officials, and verifying compliance with state law. During this period, the relief association made total expenditures of $114,448, with significant spending on equipment and training. Testing of select transactions totaling $44,601 showed no misuse of funds. The relief association ended the period with $161,142 in cash and investments. The findings indicated no unauthorized fund use or improper deposits, demonstrating effective financial management by the association. The relief association earned state aid allocation from Bethel Township amounting to $78,607 over four years. The report is publicly available.
