About This Audit

An audit of the Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association was conducted for the period January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, under Pennsylvania’s constitutional and fiscal guidelines. The audit aimed to assess compliance with state laws, contracts, bylaws, and procedures concerning the receipt and expenditure of state aid. It was determined that the relief association complied with relevant regulations in all significant respects. The association received state aid from multiple municipalities and ended the audit period with $43,679 in cash and investments. Expenditures totaled $32,687, primarily on insurance premiums, equipment, maintenance, training, and administrative costs. The relief association operates independently from the fire service organization it supports. The audit report was distributed to the governing body of the association, affiliated municipalities, and Pennsylvania officials, and is publicly accessible online.
