About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted on the York Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association of the City of York, Pennsylvania, covering January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The audit aimed to assess whether the association addressed previous audit findings and complied with state laws, contracts, bylaws, and administrative procedures regarding state aid and fund expenditure. Though the audit found compliance in most areas, it identified two issues from the prior audit that remained unaddressed: inadequate bylaws and an incomplete equipment roster. Additionally, there was a lack of independent confirmation for a portion of the cash and investment balances. Total expenditures during the audited period amounted to $565,865, with the relief association’s cash and investments totaling $3,603,268. The audit’s conclusions were discussed with the management, who cooperated fully. Despite some issues, the association took steps to maintain compliance in fund use and administration.
