Examples of Duties

The DAG is looking for an Applications Developer 3 to join our Office of Information Technology. An employee in this position will create, maintain, and enhance software applications used by all employees in the Department. 


Description of duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software applications used within the Department.
  • Participate in joint software application design sessions with users based on office/bureau requirements.
  • Assist in preparing the technical strategy for completing the project and communicate this with co-workers and users.
  • Participate in logical and physical database design sessions.
  • Test and debug programs and verify output results. 
  • Create or update application documentation as needed. 
  • Support AG staff on application software related issues.
  • Respond to Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
  • Prepare sample test data, in coordination with the end-user, to test and debug programs and verify output results.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining user manuals for applicable application systems.
  • Complete daily job status update and discuss activities with supervisor.
  • Maintain effective working relationship with end-users, management, and co-workers.
  • Participate in on-the-job training.
  • Assist in developing programming standards and procedures.
  • Assist co-workers as needed with technical problems or questions.
  • Comply with all departmental and office policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor or director.


Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4; or 
  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or 
  • Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or 
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor’s degree in any information technology field; or 
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • C#//MVC/Entity Framework – minimum 3 years of experience
  • ASP.NET & .NET – minimum 3 years of experience
  • MS Visual Studio – minimum 3 years of experience
  • Desktop/mobile Apps – experience desired
  • SharePoint – experience desired
  • MS Power Apps – experience desired
  • MS SQL Server – minimum 3 years of experience
  • MS Dev Ops & SQL Reporting Services – experience desired
  • MS Office 365 Products – minimum 2 years of experience
  • Relational Database design and programming – minimum 2 years of experience
  • 11 Cyber Security Focused Application Development – experience desired
